How it works

The counterparty list (Counterparties / directors) on the accounting Account breakdown statements screen and your company list are separate lists, but companies are linked automatically.

  • Customer → type Customer
  • Supplier → Supplier
  • Lender → Bank

Officers, employees and others are not linked.

When they are linked

  • When you add or edit an entry in the counterparty list
  • When you import partners in Data migration and choose Vendors as the destination
  • In the October 2026 update, existing entries were linked in one go

If the company is already in your list (same corporate number, or the same name once differences such as 株式会社 and ㈱ are ignored), it gets the extra type. Only an empty corporate number, invoice registration number or furigana is filled in; existing values are never overwritten. Otherwise a new company is created with the type.

Note

Shops registered automatically from receipts (convenience stores, transport and so on) never create companies. They are only linked, with Supplier added, when a company with the same name already exists.

Check the link

  • Company page: below the name it says it is linked to the accounting counterparty list, with the kind and name.
  • Counterparty list: linked entries show a company icon next to the name that opens the company page.

Names are kept separately

Names in the counterparty list are used to match journal entries. Renaming a company does not rename the counterparty entry, and vice versa.

FAQ

  • More suppliers appeared in the company list: they are suppliers linked from accounting. They show under Suppliers & vendors, not under Customers & prospects.
  • The same company appears twice: names written very differently are created as separate companies. Delete the one with no deals attached, then open the entry in the counterparty list and save it again to link it to the company you kept (adding the corporate number makes this reliable).
