Give coupons to bring guests back (welcome coupon and manual issue)

Guests automatically get a coupon for their next visit when they add you as a friend (this does not use your LINE quota). You can also issue coupons by hand as an apology or a thank-you to regulars. Staff apply them at checkout by entering the coupon code.

Overview

On Coupons, create coupons for your LINE friends and see how the coupons you gave out are used.

  • Welcome coupon: sent on LINE together with the welcome message when a guest adds you. It is sent as a reply, so it does not use your LINE quota. One per guest.
  • Issue manually: choose guests and give them a coupon. With the LINE pack, you can also send the coupon card on LINE (this uses your quota).
  • Coupons sent automatically are set up in Automated coupons, and stamp, tier and referral rewards in the Member program.

We recommend "¥300 off your next visit (bills of ¥2,000 or more, 30 days)". Putting the discount on the second visit helps first-time guests become regulars.

Steps: create a coupon

  1. On Reservations & guests → LINE → Coupons, click Create coupon.
  2. Set the coupon name, the discount type (¥ off / % off / free item) and what it applies to (whole bill / food / drinks / other). A % discount needs a maximum discount. For a free item, follow the next section.
  3. Set the minimum bill (incl. tax), valid days and usable from the next visit. To limit it to, say, Thursdays and Fridays, choose the usable days (none selected = every day; days follow the business day, so late-night hours count as the previous day). For a coupon meant only for today (for example a rainy-day broadcast), choose Same day only (until the end of that day’s business, including late-night hours). To bring guests in at quiet times, use Limit usable hours, e.g. 14:00–17:00 (checked against the actual time; the end time is not included, and spanning midnight like 22:00–02:00 is fine).
  4. Click Save.

Editing a coupon does not change coupons you have already given out.

Steps: create a free-item coupon (a yakitori skewer, a drink, etc.)

  1. Choose Free item as the discount type.
  2. Under Choose items, pick the item to give for free. For "any skewer you like", switch to Any item from a category, then choose the category and enter a price limit per item. If your menu is not split into categories, choose Any item and enter a price limit per item (any item on the bill is free up to that amount, so staff check the coupon text when applying it).
  3. Set the number of free items and the text on the coupon (e.g. "焼き鳥 1本"; guests see "焼き鳥 1本無料").
  4. Check the legal limit shown on the screen and click Save. If the free amount is over the limit, click Set the condition to bills of ¥… or more to set the minimum bill that brings it within the limit.
참고

A free item counts as a premium under Japan's Act against Unjustifiable Premiums. Its value (price per item × quantity) is limited to 20% of the minimum bill (excluding the free item), or ¥200 with no minimum or a minimum under ¥1,000. One yakitori skewer (up to ¥200) needs no minimum; a ¥550 draft beer needs a minimum bill of ¥2,750.

Steps: add an image to the card (recommended)

On the screen for creating or editing a coupon, click Choose image under Image on the LINE card. The image appears on top of the LINE card in a 20:13 landscape frame, and the sample on the screen shows how guests will see it.

  • A large, bright photo of the dish works best. No text is needed on the image (the coupon name and offer appear as text on the card).
  • Edges outside the frame are cropped, so keep the dish centered (e.g. 1040×676).
  • JPEG / PNG up to 10 MB. It is resized for LINE automatically.
  • Free-item coupons use the selected item's photo automatically (when the item has a photo).
주의

Use a photo that matches the real dish. Photos with changed portions or AI-generated photos can count as misleading representation under the Premiums and Representations Act.

If you change the image, cards for coupons already given out also show the new image the next time they are displayed (the offer stays as it was when given).

Steps: give a welcome coupon

  1. Set Welcome coupon (when guests add you as a friend) to Send automatically.
  2. Choose the coupon to give and click Save.

Steps: issue manually

  1. Click Issue manually and choose the coupon.
  2. Search for guests by name or phone number and select them (up to 100 at a time).
  3. To also notify them on LINE, check Notify on LINE (up to 20 at a time), then click Issue.

Using a coupon at checkout

Enter the 8-character coupon code the guest shows on LINE on the checkout screen of the shop iPad. For guests who logged in with LINE to order, you can choose from that guest's coupons.

  • One coupon per bill. It cannot be combined with a manual discount by staff.
  • If items are cancelled after the coupon is applied and the bill falls below the minimum, staff are asked to remove the coupon before checkout.
  • If the checkout is cancelled, the coupon becomes usable again.
  • For a free-item coupon, add the item to the bill first, then apply the coupon. The item's price (up to the price limit per item when chosen from a category) is taken off the bill. If the item is cancelled after the coupon is applied, staff are asked to remove the coupon before checkout.

On the screen

  • Issued coupons: how many were given, are usable and were used, the total discount and the total of bills that used a coupon
  • Status: Usable / From next visit / At checkout / Used / Expired / Revoked. Coupons that have not been used can be revoked.

Notes

  • A free-item coupon cannot be saved if it exceeds the legal limit (20% of the minimum bill, or ¥200 with no minimum or a minimum under ¥1,000).
  • Do not make posting a review (on Google or elsewhere) a condition for a coupon.
  • Discounts on alcohol, or free alcohol, cannot be offered to guests under 20.
