Set roles, positions and employment types separately

Small businesses and sole proprietors can now set roles, which control what someone can see in the system, separately from positions and duties, which describe the work they do, and from employment types. Commonly used roles are ready out of the box.

What's new

  • Default roles are included: Admin, Manager, HR & labor, Accounting and General. When choosing a role, cards show what each one can access (data scope, accounting, payroll, and members and settings).
  • Accounting and HR and payroll screens are visible only to people whose role has been granted that permission. Anyone who could see them before keeps access.
  • With Add member, you can send an invitation email by entering an email address, name and role. You can still create an account directly with Create account without email, as before.
  • In Positions & duties, Add common positions & duties adds a set of suggested positions and duties for your industry in one go. When you choose a position for a new member, a matching role is suggested.
  • Added Employment type to employee information (executive, full-time, contract, part-time, casual part-time, independent contractor, intern).

Who it's for

  • Industries: small businesses and sole proprietors
  • Screens: HR > Employees, Settings > Positions & duties, Roles

How to use it

  1. In HR > Employees, click Add member.
  2. Enter an email address and name, choose a role, and click Send invitation email.
  3. To register positions in bulk, go to Settings > Positions & duties and click Add common positions & duties.
